Nibbles: A Breakthrough

Nibbles:   A Breakthrough     This one was thrust upon me by the good graces of Google. The Demi Gods . Realizing  that I had an ardent interest in PD, and its spin offs, took a break from offering me cheap  Chinese goods, bikini clad ladies, and cutting edge, anti-woke comedians and offered this  recent pearl from The Michael J Fox Foundation. As you no doubt know, Michael J Fox, a  movie star who was best known for 'Back to the Future'  In 1991 he was diagnosed with PD  at the age of 31, but this was not disclosed to the public until 1998. He became a strong and  influential advocate for finding a cure and in 2000 founded the Michael J Fox Foundation to  help fund Research.     In their latest research, the Foundation have published a paper on their breakthrough in  finding a bio marker for PD .        An article on this can be found at    https://www.michaeljfox.org/news/br...

From time to time, I will insert an item, picture or thought as it occurs. By no means is it meant to be relevant, but just an 'Amuse-yeux' . For instance this truism would never strike you as pertinent when young and healthy, but get a few years, a few gastronomic extravaganzas and the exhaustion that comes with creating and raising children, under your belt, then you might have invented it yourself.

And then ....

  2. And then.......       Even after the diagnosis by the DAT scan I was not really convinced, but I went along with it, as it would give me a 'Get Out of Jail Free 'Card should I ever need it. Those with milder Parkinson' will understand, but  for clarification and perhaps enlightenment I will explain.  PD is essentially a multitude of different symptoms, some severely incapacitating, some only mildly so and others that may be seen as advantageous if applied in context. The various lotions and potions you may be prescribed for PD also have the potential to add to the confusion for a non-PD-er.          The key to this is to ensure that those near and dear, and even the rest of the scene you are in, are aware that you may exhibit any of these symptoms at random times. Now I am not remotely suggesting that Gillian Lacey-Solymar, screaming and writhing on her bed in agony in a revelation on M & S Podcast, was trying to gain some ...

In the Beginning

  1. In the Beginning          As usual the thought came to me in the small hours after my bathroom visit (650cc - not bad!!)  What with the Movers and Shakers Podcast, Rory's Always on Newsletter, and sundry and diverse YouTubes on the subject, was it not time to record my own transit through the vagaries of Parkinson's, while it was happening and hopefully before I forgot what it was I was trying to do?.            This was a real danger. Yes I had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in September 2019. That was when the neurologist confirmed it with a DATSCAN. Up till then and what caused my Hypersensitive partner to arrange my visit to the neurosurgeon was a twitching of my right hand when walking along the beach, and an occasional shaking in my right leg when relaxed. Both easily controllable by me, and by no means embarrassing nor incapacitating, At this stage I had just turned 71, and had written off other  ...
